What is a 501(c)(3) application?
Eligible charitable, educational, religious and certain other organizations generally request recognition of exemption from the IRS using Form 1023 or, when eligible, Form 1023-EZ. The filing explains the organization’s purpose, activities, governance and finances.
What our preparation service covers

- A clear review process before the application moves forward.
Form 1023 or Form 1023-EZ?
Eligibility for the streamlined Form 1023-EZ depends on the IRS eligibility worksheet and the organization’s facts. Organizations that are ineligible use the full Form 1023. A shorter form is not automatically the right choice for every eligible organization.
Information to gather
- Proposed legal name, address and state of formation.
- Names and addresses of directors and officers.
- A specific description of programs and who they will serve.
